Masque Teatro was born in 1992 in Bertinoro (Forlì-Cesena).
The visionary power of its theatre is expressed in the complex dialogue that the company establishes among three elements: the philosophical discourse, the wonderful scenic architecture and the essential role of the Figure. Some plays have introduced several innovations starting from their hallmark of style, their new mode of production and a renewed relationship with the audience. Plays such as Prigione detto Atlante (Myfest-Glasgow, 1994), Coefficiente di Fragilità (Triennale di Milano, 1998), Omaggio a Nikola Tesla (Bitef Festival-Belgrade, 2003), Postanovscik (Orto del fuoco-Forlì, 2004) and Materia Cani Randagi (Nobodaddy-Ravenna, 2009) represent the results of a research based on the production of simulacra, an opportunity to combine the concepts of material and virtual in order to produce original creations.
In 2000, Masque won the Ubu special prize for the project “Prototipo” and in 2002 got the Francesca Alinovi prize for its artistic activity.
Since 1994, Masque is author and organizer of the Crisalide Festival. Masque productions have been hosted in Italy and abroad:
